Sci.STEPS mentorship program (“Sci.STEPS”, “we” or “us”) respects your concerns about privacy and recognizes the importance of being transparent regarding the personal data we collect about you.
This Privacy Notice applies to personal data we collect in connection with our platform, for example, when you visit our website scisteps.org (“Site”), when you join us, when you register to our events, when you engage with us through social media platforms or when you contact us. This Privacy Notice describes the types of personal data we collect about you, how we may use that information, with whom we may share it and the rights you have regarding our use of that information. It also describes the measures we take to protect the security of your personal data, how long we retain it and how you can contact us to exercise your rights.
Sci.STEPS also adheres strictly to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the sake of our customers and users who are resident in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Throughout this document, “Sci.STEPS”, “we” or “us” refer to “Data Controller”.

When you contact or are contacted by us, we may collect information such as your name, e-mail address, professional title and organization, and records of correspondence. We use this information to respond to and communicate with you about your questions and comments based on our legitimate interest to do so.
When you visit our Site
We may obtain certain technical information by automated means when you visit our Site. The information we collect in this manner may include the IP address of the device you use to connect to the Internet, characteristics about your access device and/or browser, statistics on your activities on the Site, information about how you came to the Site and other data collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We so much respect your privacy and we understand the salient and confidential nature of the information you provide to us; so we assure you that all information supplied to us will be held privileged. We have also put in place additional measures to ensure the safety of your data by making our Site and Sci.STEPS program GDPR compliant especially for our esteemed customers from the European Economic Area and ensuring maximum data protection.

We will typically keep the information you provide for the duration of your membership, or within the period up to 5 years.
Personal data may be retained for a longer period whenever required to do so for the performance of a legal obligation or upon order of an authority.

Subject to applicable law, you may (1) request access to the personal data we maintain about you; (2) request that we update, correct, amend, or erase your information; or (3) request the restriction of our use of your personal data.
